Just got engaged? Where do you start? Ideas for 2013

Having recently done two wedding open days, I can now really empathise with anyone who has just got engaged and started planning their wedding! Unlike doing flowers for someone else a wedding open day, is a blank canvas, no budget (except my own!) no colour scheme or ideas from which to take inspiration, just a chance to do flowers that I like! Brilliant you might think, but part of the job I love is taking peoples ideas and turning them into reality, bringing it altogether.

I can now understand how over whelming it is when you start planning your wedding and are asked "Oh, what's you theme?" So after hours on Pinterest and several boards later, followed by a few diversions into various wedding blogs I still no closer to my theme! Or was I? As I researched a kept repinning anything I liked, no matter whether it was part of a 'theme' also  saving images from real weddings, flowers I liked, shapes of bouquets, until, when I looked back I had found a theme without even realising!
I think that is often the case, as you look back over your scrapbooks, a certain flower, style or colour will keep reemerging, and that is your starting point. Or maybe you look at hundreds of pictures and then, just like your dress, you find one you love and it all goes from there!

Except I am already married! So all I had to do was think of a look, not find a dress, or book a venue or choose my bridesmaids and sadly no excuse for a hen night!
So what did I choose in the end?? Lost and out of favour flowers and colours!! I believe that gyp will make a big come back, pretty, fragrant, cheap and used on mass so stunning Also apricots, peaches, lilacs and pale blues mixed with grey foliage such as dusty miller and brunni. Combine these with oddities such as succulents, scabious seed heads, twisted hazel and feathers and I think we are looking at the flowers for 2013! I hope so, because I love them!
